Dear Mollie
I will write a fiew lines this morning to let you no that I am as well as common & may this find you all the same. I am very sory that I cant get eny letters from you. I havent had a letter since the 28 of may. we have had 3 small mails since, not more than five or six letters. I think we must have mail on the road some whare I think we will get some to day or to morrow. this is the third letter I have writen you since I have received yours. it is hard to write & / not receive eny answer. I think we will get two months pay in a fiew days. if we do I will send you some money as soon as I can. we are camped in the same place yet we have got the rebels prety well garded they may stand it for three or four weeks weeks yet but I think not their provision must be geting short. in my last letter I spoke of your sending me yours & the childrens likeness. if you have not sent it when you receive this, you had beter direct it to cairo & your leters the same. they may come more direct. Walter Dubois got a likeness from home last week his wife & two of his children / he said it cost 25 cts to send it. I saw Don last night his health is about the same. he said he got a letter from mary day before yesterday. he said the folks were all well. it was writen the 7 of June. well Mary I dont no as I have much news to write everything is quiet except some artilery fiering & sharp shooting I will not finish my letter to day, for we may have some mail to morrow

well Mary I will write a fiew lines to day. we got a small mail yesterday, there was only 5 letters for the company the are all disapointed as well as myself. well I must tell you something about our / captain. he has turned out to be just what I said he would. the boys who elected him are down on him worse than they were on Austin when he left. they have got up a pertition requesting him to resign. several of the boys have sined it & I think the most of them will. if he dont resign I think it will open his eyes. he is the bigest coward we have in our company. he dodges for every stray ball & when a shell comes along he will run in to some hole if he can I think he is a brave man for a captain. well there is no use of saying eny more about him Landon is the best officer we have
