Dear Mollie
I once more take my pen to write a fiew lines to you. I have not had a letter from you for some time the leter that I received was dated July 19. I have been looking for one for more than three weeks but none comes. I am afraid you are sick. if so you could get some one to write for you. it is a month to day since your letter was writen it seams like a long time, for we have had four mails since & none since. I sent a letter by Henry Robinson which I supose you have got before this time our boys that were going home on furlows did not get them they wont get eny until those that have gone get back. I spoke to the Captain about a furlow but I dont expect / to get one. if not so be it, for I believe the war will end within a year.
 
I am not very well at preasent so I will not write a very long letter. I have had the diareah for about two weeks I am some beter to day. thare is a greateal of sickness here now we have lost one out of our company since I wrote to you, James Bryan from Rome. Vrooman has the ague every other day. Landon is some beter. I think he will get along if he is careful. I dont no as I have eny news to write. Will Ferguson & my self are siting under a tree writing he is writing to James Kent. he got a letter from him to day he says he has seen more wheat shocks this harvest than he has ever seen in Iowa. he thinks they can keep us in bread stuff I am glad to hear that crops are so good for that gives the farmers encouragement / & I hope they will get a good price for their grain. no more this time from your husband, O Shibly

I will write a fiew lines to Henry if Robinson has not started when you get this be shure & send that drum with him, our major says he wants the drum & he will give his obligations for it as soon as it comes, & if we dont get our pay soon he will pay it. he says he has some regimental funds which he will use so you see your pay is shure to come as soon as we get the drum, be sure & send it the first opertunity at some price. no more, from your friend O Shibly   Harry Aldrich
