Dear Mollie,
I thought I would write a fiew lines & send with Lieut. Landon, he starts in the morning for home cant write much for I wrote you a letter the 30. the pay master has come & we will get pay this afternoon. I will send you some money by Landon I dont no how much I shall send I sometimes think I will keep 10 or 15 dollars. if Vrooman pais me I think I will send you 15 or 20 dollars if I should keep 15 dollars I think I could make it pay. thare are a great many ways to make money here in buying & selling. Will Cron[?] told me last night that he had made $80 since we have been here & that is about one month. he had 15 dollars when we left Vixburg.

well mary we have got our pay we got two month pay Vrooman paid me four dollars. he said he would pay me the balance next payday. he wants to send home $50. he will is going to get some of Owens. he got a letter from Kate & she said she wanted to build a house. I think the women are geting to be more industrious than the men were. if I thought I could get a furlow I would keep all the money I have, but I dont expect to get one, so I think I will send you $20 dollars. well mary I dont no as I have much more to write. I will send those things with Landon if he will take them. he said he would take all he could. well Mary it is geting late & Landon can tell you more in one hour than I can write in three days. I have made up my mind to send you $15 dollars / now & perhaps I can send you some more after a while. if you want eny money at eny time write & I will send it to you. mary if Henry has not sent that that drum yet I want him to send it with Landon & I will send him the money. if I new that Robinson would bring the drum I would send the money with Landon. if he has time he will come & see you & I think he will. with this letter I will send you a song it was composed by a young man in the 18 wisconsin. by this you can see whare I have been. the day of the 22 I shall always remember for it was an awful sight to behold. I might wright about this all night & not get through so I will stop.
my health is very good now & may this find you all well. no more, goodby
Oliver  Mollie
