Camp Sherman
Dear Mollie
We have just had orders to march for Texas, some of the regiments have started for Vixburg now. if we go I think we will take the boat & go down the river.
Tuesday 23, at Vixburg. we came in last night on the cars. we are waiting for transpertation on the boats. we may stay here 2 or 3 days & we may start to day. Evans started for home yesterday morning but he has not gone yet. I heard last night that he was here in town & expected he would come & see us but he has not come yet. I think he will take the first boat up the river. I wish Landon was here, for we have no commitioned officer with us the boys are all in good spirets & are ready for enything. if I knew wichway / we are going I could tell you more about it, but I have no dout but we will come out all right. Lieut Genings of the 9 says we are going to Louisville Ky. I hope that is so for the climet is so much beter & nearer home. Genings says he is going with us to Cairo with us & from there home. he & cap was going together. he says Cap started last night, so you see it is hard telling which way we will go. well Mary I cant write much this time for I have writen nearly every other day for more than a week. I dont want you should feel uneasy about me, for I will take care of my self. I will write again as soon as I know whare we are going, or as soon as I can mail a letter. no mor this time
from your husband, O Shibly
