Camped near Bear Crick,
State of Alabama,
Dear Mollie,
as I have time to write a fiew lines this morning I thought I would use the opertunity. the mail goes out at 9 oclock so I cant write much. we got our pay last night about 2 oclock. the pay master was to pay us at Iuka, but we was ordered to march before he could pay us. as near as I can find out we are going to tuscumbia, about 40 miles from Iuca, on the railroad. I think we will go from thare to Rosencrance thare will be the largest army together that ever has been in the united states. they intend to make a clean sweep as far as they go. thare will be over three hundred thousand men in the field. our cavelry had a fight yesterday /
