Dear Mollie
I received your kind letter last night of the 11 No 26. I was glad to hear that you was all well & in return I can say the same. I am well & harty. the weather is cold & wet & very disagreable, but not as cold as it is up thare. Capt Evens got back day before yesterday & Blakeslee got back yesterday. Evens dont have much to say he says he did not see eny of my folks he see Henry & that was all. those verses you composed I think are very good. Vrooman is writing I thought I would write a fiew lines & send with his. you said in your letter that you was going over the river to stay two or three weeks & you would get it thare as soon as you would at Clarence.
Mary, it seems as though I cant have time to write a long letter any more, the mail is going out this morn at 9 oclock & now it is eight. it will be made up in a fiew minets. we are now about 50 miles east of Corinth we will go on as soon as as the road is finished up to here. we had a fight the other day. we had 29 killed & wonded 7 killed. I dont no the loss of the rebels they got them off of the field before we could get them. we got two of them the Colonel of the 30 was killed & 15 men wonded 5 killed. we did not loose eny. last night our picket ware fiered on last night 4 of our cavelry were killed, they fell back as soon as soon as they fiered. they will get enough of it when we start out again. no more this time O Shibly
