Dear Mollie,
We are in camp again & I thought I would write a fiew lines to let you know that I am well. we are camped on the bank of the Tennesee River. we came here last night. I think we will leave to morow. we have 2 transports here & two gunboats. they came up here for us to cross the river. I dont no which way we are going unless we go to old the potomac, & that is nearly 200 miles from hear. it will be a long & tegeous march for the roads are geting bad. we have had a considerable rain & so many teams heavy loaded that it is most imposibel to get along. we have traveled 2 days & it was / hard work to get 10 miles. I understand that thare is two army corps moving in this direction. I look for a big fight some whare before long. I think when the western boys get down thare they will clean them out in a short time. I saw Dow a fiew days ago. he was in our camp & eat dinner with me. we had some of those berries you sent me & they were very good. his foot is well but some tender yet. he had his choice, to stay at Memphis or go with his regiment. they he expects a position I think is the reason he went with the regiment. Mary I sent you 20 dollars the 22 of Oct, it was sent to McRead at the station. I have spoke about it once before, but thought it would be well enough / to speak about it again. well Mary the last letter I have had from you was writen Oct 11, No 26, it has been nearly 3 weeks, this is the third I have writen since I have heard from you. I am glad I have writen as often as I have for I may not have a chance to write again in some time. The boys are as well as common Vrooman is well, Landon has been well until yesterday he had the ague & feels rather old this morning. Jo Evans is the same old thing yet as big a coward as ever. the Colonel has a mind to report him to Osterhouse. he says he is a nusence to the regiment. he must walk straight hereafter or he will be shiped

well Mary I dont no as I have much more to write this time. tell John & Josa that I would like to hear from them my respects to all who may enquire, from your afectionate
