Dear Mollie,
I wrote you a letter the 26, no. 47. I have not had eny from you since the 23, so I concluded to write to you again. we had a mail to day & I expected a letter but thare was none for me. I think we will have another mail to morow. I wrote to you in my last letter about geting pay. the pay master was here, but it was only to pay the Veterens. I was told this morning that the 9 starts for Iowa to morow. they will have a good time of it for they are all going together. some of those that have not reinlisted are coming to our regiment & some of Co B. to our Co. well Mary I heard some some great news to day. Capt. Evens got / a letter from home to day which stated that thare was 2 or 3 girls about thare who had twins, one of them lived at the mill & the other was old grayhams girl, & one miss hammond is like to have some more. I think Mrs. Handy has set the women a great exampel. if they keep on in this way thare will be no use for the soldiers to come home. I dont see but the increase of Iowa is as large as it was before the soldiers left home. it must be that they have made up their minds to raise young soldiers. the d=d cowards, they had better come down here & fight for their country than to be thare taking the advantage of women, not condeming men alone, the women are as much to blame as the men & in some cases more. women who have men in the field fighting for their country should shun & spern such cowards & trators as those, perhaps they / think they will go it while they can. well let them go it. we are having very fine weather here it rained some last night & is very warm to day. it reminds me of the pleasent days in may. our regiment is in good health now, better than it ever has been since we left Davenport, & larger than it has been in six months. we have over 300 men present & more expected. we will have some 20 or 30 from the 9 & a lot of new recruits from Iowa. the ranks of the 31 will be largely increased & I expect they will have hard marching & fighting to do next summer. well let it come, the sooner it comes the sooner it will be over, but many a brave boy must fall. well it is time for dress perade & I cannot write eny more to night.

Tuesday 2nd the mail is going out this morning & I cannot write much more.

we are all well. Vroomans health is / better than it has been for some time. Landon is well & harty. I have not been very well for a week past but am well & harty now. tell Josa if old Jim eats her yeast again to rub his nose in it & that will cure him.

no more this time

may this find you all well & may we all meet again before long. To Mollie C Shibly
