Dear Mollie, I wrote you a letter the second & received one the same day, No. 44. I was glad to hear that you was all well. you spoke about going over the river to make Kate a viset. I hope you had a good viset. I think I could enjoy such a viset as that. Landon said he thinks if we was thare that night we would stay at home, but as we was not I hope you had a good time. you spoke about Mary Carpenter being sick. I am sory to hear it. what is her disease. you spoke of Mr Robinson being sick. I heard the other day that he was dead. you said in your letter that you thought you would be in Illinois before next sunday. I hope you are thare all safe. I am glad to hear that you have some pleasent weather now. the winter has been very hard & I think it is time you have some pleasent weather. we had 9 new recruits come to our company last thursday Benton Rogers, & James Ferguson are all that I know. the rest are from Rome. thare is one more, Ed Dueys he was discharged last fall I thought he would die before he got home. I asked him what he came back for he says it is so lonesom he would not stay thare. I think he will see the time before next fall that he will wish he had stayed at home. well I am looking for a letter to day so I will not write any more for the preasent.
good by Mollie.
Well Mary I dont no as I have much more to write this time. the weather has been very pleasent up to this morning. it commenced raining & is very dark & cloudy. I think we will have some bad wet weather for a spell. Len has not had a letter from home for six weeks I tell him Kate has got some other man, but he thinks not. I think he had better spark some of those Alabama widows, but he says he dont fancy them, they chiew to much tobaco & that is so I never have seen one yet that did not use it.
from the oldest to the youngest,
Mo mor this time, we are all well & harty
write often,
From yours truly,
now & for ever,
To Mollie C. Shibly
From O Shibly
