Dear Mollie,
I wrote you a letter the 6 & spoke about sending me two a drum head. I want you should send two of them for I have bursted the other head to day. the boys are lost without the old drum. now as I said before, get them from Ezra Smith if you can, if not, you can send off for them. I think you can send them by mail. fold them up small & wrap them well with paper & twine, the smaller the bulk the beter it will be. if they make to large a bulk send them seperate. I will send you the money for them as soon as they come. they wanto be 30 inches across or nearly that.

thare is no telling how long we will stay here & thare fore send them as soon as you can. I send your mail by the way of Nashville. I have no news to write that I know of the 9 has returned & are all feeling well. our boys are all well except Vrooman, he has sore eyes & the ague with it. he has not been well for some time. My health is very good & I am glad of it, for this is a hard place to be sick. no more this time, from your own husband now as ever. write often, my best wishes to all who inquire
