Dear Mollie
I received 3 letters from you the 29 & 1 yesterday so I concluded to write to you again. your last letter was writen March 16, mailed the 17. I was glad to hear that you was all well. I have not heard from Dow yet. I dont supose he has come yet or I would hear from him. I would like to have been with him when he was in new york. I know he enjoyed him self

well Mary this is the third time I have commenced writing this morning. I will try & finish my letter so / so as to have it go out this afternoon. this is a very pleasent day. the boys are going round in their shirt sleaves. the trees are all leaving out & it seems very much like summer. I dread the hot sun & dust this summer, but we will have to stand it. we have orders to get ready for a long & teageous campaign. you might ask whare are we going, that is of no use. I supose Old Billy knows & we trust to him, for he always brings us out right. we have our opinions. I think we are going to richmond or that way. I think we will start in about a week or 10 days. I was glad to hear from Em I am glad her health is so good. I think that afair of her father & Carles is one of the most brutal things I have heard of in a long time, that is in / a civilised country. it is nothing to see men mangeled up in this country. I hope the brute will get his just dues. you spoke about Ann. I was in hopes she had got better but it seems not. it would be a blessing to her & her famaly if she was relieved from her troubels in this world. it is hard to loose her, but beter so than for her to live such a miserable life as she must live. I wrote John a letter since I wrote to you. Len got a letter from home the other day they were all well. Kate wanted to know what had become of me. you spoke about Mary Foly inquiering after me I dont no who she is, by that name. tell mother I should think she could get along with out working so hard. I would like to see her again but I guess she means to kill her self with work. /
I have lost my day book so I cannot keep the number of my letters. no more this time

From yours as ever
