I have not answered your last letter you wrote to me, and to day as we are in camp I will answer it. Oliver and his Regt is here in camp I see him nearly every day. he is verry well at preasant and so am I. The casualities of my Redg in this campaign is light we had two killed & six wounded and we have been in the hardest of the fights. We are now within twenty five miles of Atlanta Ga and expect to hav a severe engagement with the enemy / and if we meet with the same sucess, & I have no doubt of the result and once to Atlanta the heart of Rebeldom they must lay down their arms and succum to us. I feel that we can see in the future and not many days at that when we will be permited to come home and be men once more If Oliver and my self are together when we are payed off we will send our money home together there will four months pay be due us or rather we will receive four months pay of which I can send fifty dollars to Mother and she can use some of it for Mary and her self. I do not know how James is at / time but I hope he has recovered from his sickness and is now attending to his crops I received a letter from Alfred and since then he has gone to Wiscon I suppose. Mary when you write to me you must give me all the news at home and about Oliver told me he had not received any letter from you since we have been here in camp but looks for one at every male. he reads my letters and I read his. I have nothing new at preasant only Johnson was flanked and had to run from Dalis again our loss in this campaign up to this date is about 5000 men that of the enemy is larger
