it is with a sence of neglect that I seat my self to pen a few lines to you I wrote to maryann two weeks ago to day & have not sent it yet for I have thought evry day that I would write to you & send them both out together but there has ben something to hinder every day our children have ben very sick they have the dyptheria minnie is a good deal better but Leslie is very sick yet so you will pleas excuse nan this time for she is about wore out I have not ben even in to see any of our neighbours yet & have not wrote but one letter since I got home & you will excuse me if I do not / write much to night for nan & I have to take turns in setting up so I shall have to try & get some sleep for I am very sleepy since I got home it is quite sickly out here now there is a good many soldiers sick. my health has ben very good. I did not see your man whilst I was at washington they had moved before I got your letter if I had of known where to of looked for him when at fredricksburgh I could of found him for they crossed our bridge there. father Andruses folks are all well with the exception of ma her health is not very good but I must hury & close for minnie wants I should go & lay down with her there is no news in paticular to write so you will pleas excuse this short letter this time & I will try & do better next. pleas do not wait so long as I have write & let us know if your man has got home & how you all are & I will try & be more punctual in future.
