Dear Brother & Sister
I sent a letter to the office to you one week ago yesterday I believe, so you see I do not owe you one, but I am going to write another to you boath. Oliver how do you do. I am so glad that you have been permited, through the kindness of our Creator, to return to your family and friends. O how many there is that will never return to there families in this world. it makes me feel sad when I think of it. John and my self and babies went up to the station Monday expecting to see you but when the train come no Oliver came. there was several that we knew [paper cut off]

Where did you spend the Fourth. I spent it with Mother Aldrich, John and most every body else. they had a great time I expect
there was a man that walked a stack from one house to the other
