Dear Oliver
I received your & Dow's letters of the 29th yesterday, & we were all disappointed about your coming home, for we thought you would be home in two or three weeks. I wish that order had been till the first of November, but there is no use of complaining for it will do no good. I am sorry you have more marching to do, for I thought Sherman's army had done their share of that. Eddie and Charly were here and were talking about you & Dow and said they would write to you if they had paper, so I gave them some and Charly wrote to you and Eddie to Dow. I think they done very well for boys. It is the first Eddie ever wrote & tell Dow he must be / particular to write to him as it will encourage him to try again I must tell you of some of the company we have had this week. Thursday morning Uncle Brant Coryell (Susan's father) came and visited with us till most night. He was has been near Denver & Pike's Peak, the past six years. He went the same spring that Uncle John Guy Bennett &c went, & has not been home since. He was here again yesterday. Uncle Theodore & Aunty came down to see the doctor & came here too. I wish you could have been here. we had a good visit. Charles Bennett got back from the east last tuesday afternoon. He & Uncle Brant went up to Big Rock yesterday afternoon. I received a letter from Mothers brother last monday. He was at Washington with the army of the Potomac. He belongs in the 50th Regt New York Eng. I wrote to him where you were & told to look you up, if he could, & get acquainted. I do hope you will not have to stay till next fall, but your time will be out then & they cant keep you any longer any way. I got a letter from you & Dow last tuesday & a paper wednesday, and a letter again yesterday. Tell Dow he must accept a part of this letter for himself for I have no news to write to him seperately. The health of the friends here is about the same as usual. I am glad to hear from you both & hope you will write often /

I was down to Mothers last night. She has been making soap & has quite a lame back, but is about as usual. She feels disappointed too for she thought you would be home much sooner than you are likely to be now. Well I guess this paper is about full enough. So good bye for this time. From Mollie
