Dear friend Oliver
It is with pleasure that i take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well and hope this will find you the same. I am going to school and get a long nicely. our teachers kname is Whiting and he is liked very much. Oliver Clarence is here washing his feet and Lilly is sowing on a bed quilt block. Well Oliver I would like to see you and Dow but i suspect that i will by and by. my studies is reading arithmetic and spelling and get along first rate. your Mother has been up here to knight and she is well. well Oliver i thought that you would like to hear from Leroy. i was up their and hes well and as fat as a bear. Lyman has got him a nice colt i tell you. it is two years old this spring and he has been offered 175 dolors for him. he is a nice fellow i tell you. Clarence has gone to bed now, he has just give / his gum to mary. Byron is well and fat as a bear. Oliver when you come home i wish you would fetch home your drum and show some of these men how to drum for i dont believe they know how to drum. Lillie says that says that she wishes that you wold hurry and get home. Clarence says that he has been a good boy to day. Morning Lillie and Clarence has not got up yet Mr Briggs and Birton is keeping house here alone and Ovilla has gone to Michigan to see Lavinna. Wilson Briggs is in the army and so is Osker. well Oliver i cant think of anything more.
