Dear wife it is with the gratest of pleasure that I take the present oportunity to right you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well at present and I hope that these fiew lines may find you all enjoying the best of health this is a very wet day here but it is warm there was one of our men that was out on picket guard and one of our men out of another company was out / out with him and they got to cuting up and one shot the other one through the head and killed him Well my dear wife I would like to come home and see you and the children and I would like to hear how you are all geting along I feel very uneasy about you and the little children I want you to right and let me no how you are geting along I rote a letter to Levi but I have not got an answer yet / I drempt last night that you was here with me but when I woke up I found that it was a mistake and I felt very sory that it was not so I dream about you every night and it makes me feel very uneasy for fear that there is some of you sick but I think that we will all get home again spring for I dont think that the war will not last very long
We hear a good many reports here but we cant put any dependence in what we hear but I want you to right and tell me what the opinion of the people is there about the war So I must quit no more at present but remains your dear and affectionate husband til death
