Memphis, Tennessee,
January, the 6th 1863.

My Dear, and Beloved, Wife, I no not, how to express my, love that I have to you, and them Dear, little girls.
Cordelia, you, are never absent, from my thoughts. you, have the utmost, affectiones of my heart. I dream, of you at night, and I think of you, through the day. Oh. how I long to see this, rebellion come to a close, and we can have the privilige, of once, more, enjoying, each others, society. I, think what that we could spend the remainder, / of our days, in joy, and sadisfaction, together. I cant help sheding tears, very often, to think, that we, are so far, apart, and that you ,have sutch a hard way, of getting along. But, I hope that this, is the last winter, that we, shall have to spend in the armey. I hope before another, winter, makes its apearance that we, shall be pirmited to return return to the dear, loved, ones at home. Well Cordelia the weather is very cold and the ground is covered with a cake of ice and it makes it very dissagreeable getting around
