Dear beloved Wife it is with the gratest of pleasure that I take the present oportunity to right you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and I hope that these fiew lines may find you all enjoying the best of health I received your letter that you rote on the 18 and I was glad to hear from you and glad to hear that you was all well but I was sorey to hear that it was so disagreeable geting about and I was glad to hear that little / Mary Emma could set alone and that she could begin to walk about We are in memphis yet and expect to stay here for some time I would like to hear from little Sarah Catharine tell Nancy Jane that pap is coming home again next spring and that pap is agoing to fetch her and Mother something very nice tell nancy that pap would like to see her and Mother and little Marey Emma and sarah Catharine pap is agoing to fetch them all something prety I have not herd from Levi / for some time but the last I herd from him he was geting better I think that they have left Helena but I dont no where they are now I rote a letter to Wooster the other day I got one from Jemima C Bay about to weeks ago and she said that Alexander E Bay was in the 16th Ohio Regiment and in Company I and I herd that the 16 Ohio was here and they left here about the same time that we came into the fort here and they went to Vicksburg and I think that they have had aney a verey hard fight 
 
So nothing more at present but remains your
