Dear Beloved Companion it is with the gratest of pleasure that I take the present oportunity to right you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and I hope that these fiew lines may find you all enjoying good health I received a letter from you and Crid and to from Samey yesterday and I was very glad to hear that you was all well you said that you had plenty of dried beef and you wished that I was there to help you eat it well I would like to bee there as bad / as you would like to have me there for I think of sweet home everey our in the day and dream of you at night but I am very glad that you have got Hariets man to cut your wood for I have been in a goodeel of trouble about your geting wood cut but I dont want you to save eny money for me but when you want eny thing I want you to get it and just as soon as I draw my money again I will send it to you and I want you to just get what ever you want and right and / let me no whether you get your orders yet and if you runout of money and you can sell that other order of mine I want you to do it and get just what you want I dont care for money nor orders but it is you that I care for now and it is you that is on my mind more for it is with you that I have all my sadisfaction in this life but if the good lord will spair our lives a fiew months longer we will bee permitted to spend the remainder of our days together 
 
well I have no war news to right this time Fredrick Hawk is able for duty again Fred and Wen Jones and James Gaunt and John Everhart and my self was all on gard together last night we have to stant gard every other day but we dont drill eny more so no more at present but remains your dear and most beloved Companion Hugh Bay to my dear beloved wife Cordeliann Bay and sweet little children
