Dear and beloved wife it is with the gratest of pleasure that I take the present oportunity to right you a fiew lines to let you no how I am I have been sick for a fiew days I have had the diare and a little tuch of the fever but i think agin tomorow or next day I will bee able for gard again I have fell away a good deel but I think that I will bee gain very fast I got vaxinated and my arm is just geting sore now I hope that these fiew lines may find you all well I got a letter / from you that was dated March the 1st and I was very glad to hear from you but sory to hear that the baby was sick I hope that this war wont last long for I would like to get home with you again you rote that you thought I had forgot you but I think of you every our you rote that you was going to moove in the spring and I want you to right and let me no where you are going to moove to you will have to do the best you can til I get home I wish that you could get that old schoolhouse down by Fathers you had better get it if you can / I wish that I cood come home but I cant They are going to run a railroad into the Fort and they are working at the station house now and they are building to new magazines and I think they are going to make a navy yard of this place after while I have got to letters from A E Bay he is at Youngs point Lousiana th is within eight miles of Vicks Burg he is sick with the diare and janders Jacob Spooler is about gone up but you must keep this to yourself his belley is all in holes with the clap but I dont pity him one but you need not bee uneasy about me geting it / for I dont feel like throwing myself away like some does I think tomuch of my family at home to be ketched at such bisness well I believe that I have rote all that I can think of now so nothing more at present but I remain your Dear and beloved Companion til Death Hugh Bay to my Dear and Beloved wife Cordeliann Bay and Dear little children right soon
 
tell samey that I sent that letter on to levi the same day that I got it and i rote one to him again
