Dear Beloved Wife it is with the gratest of pleasure that I take the present oportunity to right you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and when these fiew lines comes to hand I hope they will find you all enjoying the best of health I have not received aney letter from you for about a week and I thought I would right you one aney how well / Cordeli I am cooking a fiew days for our Captain I onley have five to cook for and I like it very well Cordeli I think then the time very long to see you and I am looking every day for a letter from you for I am very uneasy about you I think that we will get our money this week Fred Hawk saw Levi last week he is at Helena he looks very bad but he is gaining some he onley ways 160 pounds My Dear love I would like to bee at home with you today but / we are severl hundred miles apart we had a splendid sermon preached here this afternoon buy the Chaplain of the 117 Ilinois Regiment we have preaching every sunday and there is prayer meetin through the week up at the north end of the fort at Old mister porters he is a presbyterian preacher this is a little book that he gave me it is a present for Nancy Jane tell Nancy Jane that Pap sent it to her an pap wants her to keep it til he comes home well Cordeli I want you / to right to me as soon as you get this and let me no how you are geting for I am very uneasy about you And let me no how fathers folks is all geting along Fred Hawk is well and harty so nothing more at present But I remain your Dear and Beloved Companion Hugh Bay to Cordeliann Bay my Dear Beloved Wife a sweet little Children right soon
