Most Dearley Beloved and Affectionate Wife tis with the gratest of pleasure and with much feeling and love that I have for you and the sweet little children that I take the privilige this Sabath after noon to right you a fiew lines for your perusal and sadisfaction well the wether is warm and pleasant with a nice cool breeze of wind and I am seting here in my cooking shanty all alone and I am very lonesome today O Cordeli I would like to bee at home with you today but we are many miles apart although we can have the pleasure of conversing with each other buy way of pen and ink / but still I would much rather that I was at home with you you are never absent from my thoughts My prayer is that God will protect you and bring you of more than conquer and if we should never bee permitted to meet on earth I hope that we may bee so hapy as to meet each other with our little children in heaven well the health of the Regiment is midling good at present the rest of the boys are all well there is nothing very interesting going on here now and I have not much to right at present but I will close for the present by telling you that I am well and harty and hoping that these fiew lines / may find you and the sweet little children enjoying the best of health well if I can I will get a furlough and come home to see you in the course of a month or to there is no chance of geting one aney sooner so nothing more at present but I remain
