Dear beloved Wife it is with the greatest of pleasure that I can enjoy the present oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and I cincearley hope when these fiew lines comes to hand they will find you all enjoying the best of health I have just finished washing my diner dishes and I thought I would right you a letter the wether here now is nice and pleasant and the health of the Regiment is midling good / there was one more man died last night he belonged to Co I his name I do not no but we have lost the least number of men in our Company of aney other Company in the Regt Samuel Garver has been very sick but he is able to walk around again one year ago yesterday was the day that the Union troops took possession of the city of Memphis and yesterday the Union Club of memphis selebrated the day in the city of memphis they had quite a large selebration General Veach delivered a speech and while he / was speaking a notorious rebel stuck a Cecesh flag out of a window up stairs in the fourth storey of a large building a little distance from where the General was speaking but it had not been more than done til the guards seized the chap and stuck him in the urban block prison I dont think he will stick out another Cecesh flag soon we have not had aney news from Vicksburg for severel days well I have not had much to right at present onley I think the time / very long to see you and them sweet little children
 
I can spend a good maney leasure hours in perusing that nice present you sent me so nothing more at present but I remain your Dear and affectionate
