Dear beloved Companion with the gratest of pleasure and much respect it is that I can once more enjoy the present oportunity of righting you a fiew lines for your sadisfaction the weather here has been somewhat wet for severel days it is very cool here this morning but the here is as good as could bee expected under the present circumstances I received a letter from Wooster from Father and Mother yesterday and they rote that they were all well and that sweet little girl of ours was well and harty / She rote that I should bee a good soldier and a great maney other things that was very good advise but it just gave me a good oportunity to give Crid a fiew hints I rote to them that when I enlisted that I did not expect to se much fun for I had came to the conclusion that a soldiers life was a hard life at the best but I told them that I have not felt aney thing like deserting yet and that I had came into the service honest and that I was not going out until I could go out of it honest and I dont concider a deserter aney thing more than a rebel

Well Cordeliann I have not much to right this morning for my hand trimbels so that it is hard for me to right but I thought I would right you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and harty and hope these fiew lines may find you all well I will right more the next time so nothing more but I still remain your Dear and Affectionate Companion Hugh Bay to my Beloved Wife
Cordeliann Bay and
