Dear Beloved wife it is with the greatest of pleasure and and much respect that I can enjoy the present oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and harty and full of mischief And I hope those fiew lines may find you all enjoying the best of health well Cordeli I will tell you the balance of the scout that I mentioned to you in the last letter I rote to you well in about a half an hour after I finished the letter the party that we sent out returned but they did not acomplish aney thing / there was three of our artilery men got their right hands tore of buy firing our own guns that is all of the hole thing they saw the enemy but they skedaddled well we have been looking for an atack here for severel days but they have not come yet and the worst is they had better not for we are prepaired to give them all they want Well I think Levi has forgot to right to me I have not had aney letter from him for a long time
I have been looking for a letter from you for three days but I have not got aney yet / well I must quit righting til after diner for it is time to go to geting dinner now and I will finish after dinner
well dinner is over and I have got my dishes washed and I thought I would finish my letter the mail has came in today and I did not get aney letter yet I think the time very long to hear from you and the little children and I have not much to right at present so I must bring my letter to a close so nothing more at present but I still remain your
