Dear Beloved wife
wife with the greatest of pleasure and the kindness of a Beloved Companion it is that I can once more enjoy the pleasure of righting you a fiew lines for your sadisfaction the weather here for severl days has been some what cool and cloudy but not much rain the health is not as good as what it has been for some time back Christian Magley a private of our Companey died yesterday evening the news are still interesting we got the news of the capture of Port Hudson yesterday and now the mississippi is open and in our posession 
 
Well there is some talk of furlows again but if they do comence furlowing I cant get one until my turn will come they are going to furlough 5 men at a time and then they will all have to take their turns Andy Teeple will get one first and if he gets one I will send you a letter with him I am going to quit cooking for the wether is very warm and it is to hot for me to cook of over the hot fire but the Cap and Lieutenant did not want me to quit but they said just as soon as they could get me an easier place they would do it the main object is to keep on the right side of them and they will / all they can for me
 
Well I would like to no how father is geting along with his harvest and about all other inteligence I would like to no how the baby is getting I have been very uneasy about her ever since I herd she was sick the time seems very long to get to see you all but I hope the war will soon come to a close and we can all return to the Dear loved ones at home I have not herd from Levi since you rote to me and I have not herd from A E Bay since last spring but I herd that his regiment is at Jackson Mississippi well I have not much to right at present but I will close buy telling / you that I am well and I hope those fiew lines may find you all well so nothing more at present but I remain you Beloved Companion
