Dear Beloved
and Affectionate Wife with the gratest of pleasure and much respect it is that I can can once more enjoy the privilige of righting you a fiew lines in answer to your kind and much welcomed letter which I received today and I was very glad to hear that you was all geting better well we got our pay today and if I can get a furlough soon I will keep it til I come home but if I cant get aney furlough I will send you some money / Fred Hawk is going to get a furlough in a fiew days but he gets it buy telling them what is not so for I dont believe that he has aney more business to attend to than I have Well when I was at vicksburg I saw where Alexander was beried he died on the 27th of July at 7 oclock in the evening well the rest of the boys are all well but Wenmann Jones he is midling poorley well Cordelia you wanted to no whether I am doing my one washing I am doing it my self for I dont feel much like paying 5 and 10 cts apiece for washing the balance of this letter keep to yours your self
