Sept the 4th 1863
Dear and Beloved wife with the greatest of pleasure it is that I can once more enjoy the present oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to inform you that I am well and harty and I hope those fiew lines may find you all enjoying the best of health Well Cordelia I will inform you that we are in Arkansas just across the river from Memphis there is to companies of our regiment here that is Co K and Co A and we have first rate times here / we have nothing to do but to stand picket guard I was on picket last night we are guarding an old engine that our men are repairing and they are going to repair up the railroad from here to little rock we are camped right acrost the river from the fourt and we have a skift and we can go acrost to the fourt for our letters every day I like it a goodeel better here than what I did in the fourt Direct your letters just as you did before
Well Cordeliann I wish I could have got a furlough this time to have come home but I cant get aney until my turn comes and just as soon as I can get one I am coming home to see you all once more
Well I have not much to right at present and I have not got my ink here so I have to right with a pencil but I will right more the next time so nothing more at present But I remain your Beloved husband /
