Dear Beloved Wife
My pen is incapable of expressing the respect and love that I have for you and them dear little girls And I thought I would spend a fiew minutes in righting you a fiew lines to let you no how I am getting along Well Cordelia I am well and harty and I hope when those fiew lines comes to hand they will find you all enjoying the best of health and in good spirits 
 
Well Cordelia I received that letter that Billey rote when he was there and he stated that you had the toothache which made me feel very sorey But I think you had better get it pulled and then it wont bother you aney more Well Cordelia since I last rote you a letter we have built our selves quite a nice board shanty and we have got a stove in it and we can live right comfortable but still I would rather be at home with you if I could / But I cant tell when I will get a chance to come home but just as soon as I can get a furlough I will come home to see you all once more well
 
Well Cordeliann we are still at Memphis yet and I guess we will get to stay here I have not had aney letter from Levi since I sent you the letter that I received from him. Well Cordelia I have not much to right at present so I will close / So nothing more at present But I remain your Beloved Companion to my Dear Beloved Wife and Sweet little Girls
