Dear Beloved
Wife with the greatest of pleasure and mutch respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well and I hope when those fiew lines reaches you they will find you in the enjoyment of good health Well Cordelia we have another raid to make right of I think that we will / leave hear tomorow but we are going on the river this time and I dont think that we will be gone as long as we was the other time I think we are going up red river this time and I think that just as soon as we get this trip made we will be sent back to Memphis well Cordelia I must tell you how we lived while we was out on that scout we onley got half rations from the time we started until we got to Meridian and all the way back / we had to eat just what we could get along the road and that was but little for sutch a large armey onley corn we could get plenty of it and I marched some four or five days and had nothing to eat but parched corn But we are going on the boats this time and we can take plenty with us I expect we burnd more than five hundred bildings on that rade I dont see how the rebs can hold out mutch longer I dont think that / the war will last longer than til July or August and for my part I dont care how quick it comes to a close well Cordelia I must bring my letter to a close for I must wash some yet today so nothing more at preasant But I still remain your Beloved Companion
