Dear Beloved Wife with the greatest of pleas and respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines in answer to your kind and mutch welcomed letter whitch I received today and I was very glad to hear from you but sorey to hear that the hogs had destroyed so mutch for you But I think that it is the best thing that you can do to moove up where you said you was going 
 
Well Cordelia we are still hear yet But I think that we will leave hear in a day or to but I dont no whether we will go down the river or up the river well Cordelia I have not mutch to right at preasant for I just rote you one yesterday and I am not very well I have had the ague and I dont feel like righting mutch but I hope this war will soon come to a close when I can get home to see you and them little children once more tell the little girls to be good children till / Pap gets home
 
well Cordelia I must quit for my head akes to bad to right But I hope when these fiew lines comes to hand they will find you and the children in the enjoyment of good health so no more at preasant but I remain your
