Dear Beloved Wife with the greatest of pleasure and mutch respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to let you no that I am well onley I have not mutch use of my arms and legs Doctor Porter says that it is a spinal eritation and it was cased buy exposure and hard and fatiguing marches But I hope that we will get to rest a little while now we have ben in the field four months without aney rest atol / But I hope when these fiew lines reaches you they will find you and them dear little girls in the enjoyment of good health. We are still at vicks Burg yet but we are looking for orders every minute to go on board the boat to go up the river I think that we will go to Memphis But we dont no sertain as there was is several of the boys in the 89 that is about wore out with fatig we have had a midling hard time for the last four months Cordelia I wish I could get a furlough when / we get to memphis But I dont think that there will be be aney furloughs given for I think they will need all the troops in the field that they can get out for awhile But I hope buy the fourth of July that Richmond will be ours Well Cordelia I have not mutch to right at preasant but I will right soon again so no more at preasant but I still remain your Beloved Companion
