Memphis, Tennessee.
Dear Beloved Wife
With the greatest of pleasure and mutch respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines in answer to your kind and mutch welcomed letter whitch I received today and I was very glad to hear from you but I would still be more glad to see you and them sweet little girls you stated in your letter that you had not had aney letter from me for some time but I have ritten about twise a week since we came back hear /
Well you wanted to no something about Levi I have not saw him since we left the Chapalioah Buyo they started from their to Neworleans and we started for vicks burg But he was well and harty when I saw him last I have ritten him a letter since I got back hear but I have not had aney answer yet I rote a letter to Samuel the other day but I have not had aney letter from him for to months so I dont think that he ought to think hard of me for not righting for we have not had mutch chance to right for some time until now but I can right oftener now
Well Cordelia you stated that you had received a letter from Crid I would like to no what he is working at. Well Cordelia we are at Memphis now but I cant tell where how long we will stay hear I would not wonder mutch if we would go on up the river either to Columbus Kentucky or to Cairo Illinois we are camped about two miles southeast of memphis on the old hernando plank road it is a very nice shady grove where we are camped and I would just as soon stay hear as aney place that we have ever ben camped yet the health hear is midling good but there is a good maney of the boys wore out and run down but if we get to rest a while we will be all right /
Well Cordelia I must quit buy telling you that I am getting better and I hope when those fiew lines comes to hand they will find you and them sweet little girls in the enjoyment of good health so no more at preasant but I still remain your
