Dear Beloved and affectionate Wife wit the greatest of pleasure and mutch respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines in answer to your kind and mutch welcomed letter whitch I received day before yesterday and I was very glad to hear that you was and them sweet little children was well but sorey to hear that Maranda had got so badley hurt well Cordelia it is raining this morning while I am righting well Cordelia there is some talk of us getting our pay today but that has / bin the talk so long that I dont no whether it is so or not But I shant finish my letter until this evening and then I will let you no whether we get it or not
 
Well Cordelia I am not very well I have got a bad cold and something like the rheumatis in my left hip and shoulder and I am about as poor now as I was this spring a year ago but I think that if we get our pay I will get myself a bottle of stomache bitters and try that our doctors is not worth powder enough to blo them up / I have nowen boys to ask them for medicine when they was sick and all the sadisfaction they would give them was that they might as well be in hell as to take medicine all they care for is to run with some hoar some of them has the clap the half of the time but I hope the day is coming when we will not have to ask them for aney medicine well I will quit til evening Well Cordelia we got our pay yesterday evening and I am going to send you twenty seven dollars in care of Jessey Niblick and when it / gets there you can go and get it I think that we will draw again in to or three months for there is to months pay due us yet right and let me no just as soon as you get it well that is all that I have to right at preasant But I hope these fiew lines will find you and the little children in the enjoyment of good health so no more at preasant
