In Camp near St Louis Mo
 
Dear Beloved Wife with the greatest of pleasure and mutch respect it is that I can once more enjoy the preasant oportunity of righting you a fiew lines to let you know that I am well and harty and I hope when those fiew lines comes to hand they may find you and them sweet little girls in the enjoyment of good health Well Cordelia we have got back to St Louis again we have marched about seven hundred miles we was in the state of [faded] hours we got back hear day before yesterday and we got our knapsacks yesterday evening and we have signed the pay rolles yesterday and I think that we will get our pay in a fiew days / and then I will send you all the money that I can I got that letter that you sent with Andy Teeple and I got them socks and that letter that you sent with Ezra Cowin and I got that letter that Thomas rote Well Cordelia you dont know how well I would like to have ben their with you when he was their but I could not get their But we onley have about nine months to serve and then our time will be out Well Cordelia I dont think that we will stay hear but a fiew days I think that we will go down the river either to memphis or Vicks Burg But I would / sooner go down their than to stay hear this winter for it is so cold and we have no tents we just have to lay out like a lot of cattle or horses I dont think that we will get mutch reast this winter I think they might let us reast to or three months for we have had a very hard time this sumer we have had to right big snowes hear this fall while we was on this raid and it was very cold and disagreeable I have not had aney letter from Levi nor Samuel nor Albert since we left hear But I am going to right to them today and I am going to right Father an answer to the / letter that he sent me with Andy Teeple I was very glad to receive a letter from him Fred Hawk is well and harty Well Cordelia this is the first time that I have had a good chance to right since we left hear Oh Cordelia how well I would like to be at home with you this sabath morning but we are laying out hear in the open field Well Cordelia that is all that I have to right at preasant so nothing more at preasant But I still remain your Beloved Companion
