My Dear Parients,
Your letter of March 1st I recieved last night and will now try and answer No news of importance to write the same old routine of duties I am glad you have sent the box for I think we will get it soon. the rumor about marching has played out all is quiet again and the eatables wont come amiss. I recollect about the cheese you sent but did not know that it made any talk. please / explain in your next I would like to have Miss Lee here when the box is opened. By the way she has got my photograph and tis no more than fair that she I should have mine hers Please tell her so and tell if she sends it I wont show to P. Henry Goodrich for I believe they had a slight falling out just before we left home. But I guess on the whole you had better say nothing about it for it might kick up a muss and tis better to keep the peace when you can. So cousin Dora is to be married what's the name of the lucky man. I have been trying to get her photograph but she wont send. Wonder if that is the reason. / I guess my essex correspondent will play out. She dont write so often and my answers are very short. My correspondents are getting quite numerous and I believe I shall have to drop some of them for it dont pay Did Grandma Pelton make the pies you sent if she did of course she cant be beat and of course those are the best in the box. I am very much obliged to Nell for the tobacco but the cigars will be enough. Why dont he write I have not heard from him since last fall. I recieved a paper once from Charles and he wanted me to write but I never got time and shant have for a while I guess / I have written a letter full of nonsense but news is scarce. I hear from Halsey frequently he is in a good place and means to stay there I guess. I wrote in my last for some figures twenties to put on my cap, please send soon as conveniant many of the boys want get those like the ones I wore when I left home But no more at present Your Aff Son
Henry.
