My Dear Parients
Having a few liesure moments just now I thought I would write you a few lines and send a couple of pictures one of our quarters at Stevenson and one of Anderson the scene of the late railroad disaster which I wrote you about a few weeks since. The picture of our quarters at Stevenson does not show much of Co. D. the front row of tents are Co H the second Co. D. and / and the third Cos K and F Our hut is seen in the picture I have marked it with my pen. Part of the chimney we made of an old sheet iron cooking range you can see the holes where the covers were. we rolled it up and fastened it with wier. In the background is the hospital where Grove Bell died. in front is a Corpl. marching his relief of guard down into the town where they were posted to guard Quartermaster and commissary store. I used to march my men down every other two hours, every other day and sometimes every day and night just as / represented in the picture The picture was drawn by Sergt Abbot, Co H. who lived in the large tent. he has since been promoted to be second Lieut in our Company I suppose we have got to move before long our Regt has been transferred to another division under command of Maj. Genl Butterfield which is now stationed at Wahatchie Valley somewhere between Bridgeport Ala. and Chattanooga Tenn. Give one of the pictures to Dwight and the other to Dennis. But I cannot write more now. When we move I will write as soon as I can but do not worry if you do not hear / from me for a long time
Write often and I will answer soon as possible
Your aff son
Henry
I send these pictures in a Nashville Paper
