S. J. Hanna to Randall L. Gibson, 4 March 1867
General Gibson,

Sir;
                                    I was requested by Miss Andrews to send you the accompanying package of letters. They belong, I believe to one of the privates in your command during the war; and, had been intrusted to the safe keeping of my cousin, Miss Mary Kirkman, by the owner, as Genl Hood's Army were on the eve of an advance into Tennessee. She gave them to my cousin when leaving Florence in December last, with the request that they should be given to you, as you would know what to do with them. Miss Andrews desired me to offer many apologies to you for her, as they should have been sent sooner, but she has been so much engrossed in the gayeties / of the season that they altogether escaped from her memory. Trusting that we may not have inconvenienced you,

I remain;—
Yrs respectfully,
Miss S. J. Hanna
