Dr Johnny
As Major Pullen has kindly offered to take letters direct to you I will not miss the opportunity of writing although I have nothing to say. Johnny my finances are getting very low and I cannot see how I am to get money to live upon. I shall have my taxes pay between this and the 11th of June. Mr Holezack sold my salt for $140 but he was so long getting back from Mobile that my account with him took it all except $35. the bedstead arrangment was a complete failer, I got but $36 in old currency and that without the discount. I sent the money back to Mrs Culver (Mrs Smith's sister) to get the discount on it. I have been thinking of writing to sister Liz and preposeing to morggaging this property to brother Henry for $3000 or 4000, and paying it when I sell the place to leave as I am determined to do so as soon as I can get away. it was your fathers intention to do it when he left home and should he never come back I shall leave and here for some more agreeable country. country. I here that your regiment has been ordered to Gen Jonstons Jhonston if that is the fact telagraph to us after the battle as soon as possiable for I shall feel very anxious about you & Willie answer this as soon as you receive it if you have time. I hope what I have written will not depress your spirit for it for I feel assured that the God will show me some way to provide for our wants if not at this moment we will not / suffer. I have tried to see Mr Huchins without going to his house but did not succeed before he left for Mobile but when he gets back I shall call on him for the money he owes your father. he will have to pay it or I keep the calf if you should see him in Mobile tell him about We are all well plenty of crabs to be caught. All send a great deal of love to you. may god preserve you from all harm is my constant prayer

I am your affectionate
