My very dear Boy
Your letter was recived some days since and should have answered it sooner but not having nothing to write but my troubles I think not right to make you unhappy about that you cannot help. I am sorry that Anola missunderstood Mrs Smith about in relation to your father. Mr Smith did not write that he saw him but heard that he was in prison in Galveston as a spie and that he would have gone to see him but did not have time as the boat about leaving when he heard / it but that the boat expected to return to Galveston the next trip she made and he would do all he could to have him releced. Mrs Smith has not heard from her husband since and is very much afraid that he captured again. I hope that this explination will make all right. Mrs Smith has her pecularities but a good friend to me. Our peaches are not ripe enough for market and I hope to realize something from them at least for present wants, but all is dark for the winter both for cloths and provisions but I sincrly trust in providence God has always been my friend in trouble and I still will trust in him. / Anola has been in Handsburrough for the last 2 weeks expecting every day to leave for Mobile. Tiger and Bob says tell brother that they love him very much and to kiss Willie for them. Kate wrote a letter to Willie some time since. I recived a letter from him the last mail. when you write to me write if Willie has qute he cross ways and if he is a good boy in all respects, if he determined to make a man of himself. I am very anxious about him. I fear that his disposition is such that he will not make many friend as he goes though the world. We all are enjoying fine health which is a great blessing. Tell Tom Friar that I saw his mother yesterday and / that all the family was well. 2 Two of the Yankee families of this place has left within the last few days for these ship island I suppose from there to N.Orleans. I hope they will have full benifit of Yankee rule. I hear that some more intend leaving this fall. we get ride of them all I hope soon. Mr Jesey has gone to ship island but his family is still which make an excuse for him to come back occasionly and take all the news he can learn to the Yankees John the pedler sill still makes trips to the island and I suppose the Yankees are keep well posted in what is going on this side. tell Willie I will write to him in a few days. would write this evening but have a letter to write to sister Lizzie. May God still protect my boys is the prayer of your affectionate Mother
