My Dear Cousin,
    Yours of the 12th inst. was delayed in its receipt because it was addressed to Selma. My P.O. is Bellevue.
                                                           
I sincerely and deeply regret the situation of your Mother and family. you are hereby authorised to draw upon me, through the Selma "Bank of Selma" for $300. I will place that sum there to your credit, or rather I will authorise that Bank to pay your draft upon me for that amount $300 I hope you may be able to relieve them immediately. If you receive any intelligence of your father please write to me. I am anxious to hear from him. I have rec'd several letters from your uncle, John W Kendall at Elkton P.O. Ky, enquiring for yr father and family. Write immediately, by "Flag of Truce" to J. W. Kendall Elkton Ky.
