I am setting in the fort writeing to you it is the first time that I have had a chance since the fight as we have had to work night and day. the rebes charged on us after we took the fort but it was no use for them thay could not get it again. we killed them by 100 it was a hard sight to see them after the charge. well I will change the subject. how is Linda

dont think it was because I wouldnt write before, for I tried to the same day, but had no paper nor any-thing else. we did not take any-thing with us from our old camp so I expect we shall go back some time and get a clean shirt, for we are all getting lousey. I am on guard at the Generals quarters and that is how I get a chance to write to day deserters keep coming in 13 come in last night on our front. some of them had not been in the service but 2 weeks. every-thing looks lovely Ari. I cant tell you one half that I would like to. keep up good courage Ari, for this thing is about played out. Sergt Winn is all right. Give my love to Elmer and all the rest and write soon.

I am in a hurry, good day.
