Camp 13th N.H. Vols
Feb 12th /65

Now I will try and finish this letter that I commenced so long ago. you can see now what time I get to write, as well as you. we were reviewed yesterday by Gen Devons and to day by Generals Ord & Gibbons. Gen Ord is in command of the Army of the James and Gen Gibbons is in Comd of the 24th Corps and Gen Devons is in Commd of the 3rd Division of the 24th Corps, and Colonel Cullen of the 96th N.Y. is in Commd of the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Divi. of the 24th Corps and Capt Betton is in Commd / of the 13th N.H. Vols now you have the names of our Commanders. Col Smith is at home on a furlough and the Major is sick, so that leaves Capt Betton in Commd of the Regt. nothing new has transpired since I commenced this letter. Capt Betton has just come from Corps Head Quarters. he says that Gen Ord & Gibbons gave us a splendid name, "big thing that."

I dont know when you will get another letter from me. oh I got a letter from Baze this morning. my regards to all the folks. I have wrote this in a hurry. I dont know what is in it. Good day from your Husband in the Army of the James,
Sergt S. B. Tarlton.
