Stephen B. Tarlton to Arianna E. Tarlton, 18 February 1865
Feb 18th /65
As I have not had a chance to send this letter untill now I thought I would write a few more lines to let you know that I received one from you written on the 12th of Feb. we are having a very fine day. it is like a spring day at home. every-thing is quiet. no news of any kind. it seems that you are having a revival in little river. well it is all good if thay will only stick to what thay profess to have, but let me tell you Ari that I know Little River and Little River folks perhaps as well as you do. I hope that thay will take some interest in the wellfare of their Government. I shant believe that there is much / religion in them if any one of them are trators to their country. is that man "or" person a Christian that told you that England was going to raise our blockade. if he is a man and a Christian, he would have been out here a long time ago. dont you be alarmed about England. tell that man that I would not let any-body else know that England is comeing to join the Rebs for we fellows out here dont fear them if thay do come, that is all nonsence to talk such stuf. Good day.
