There has been quite a change in the weather since day before yesterday, then the glass was at zero. Mary Patterson was in Sarah called Alvin, Charley & Frank Williams were in the trees are all covered with ice.

It snowed this morning when I went to church. cleared off at about noon. Elder Hall preached this A.M. Mr Amazeen this P.M. Will & Ada went up to Edith's a little while. Atwell has been in twice

Snowed a little most all day. Kit has been in with her work a while this afternoon Mammie ran in a few minuets. Stephen and I just got home from the Lodge. went with Leavitt Installation of Officers. 24 there.

Nell came up and stopped a while this forenoon. Mamie came up of an errand. Will & Ada were going to Rye but Will came home sick so they will not go. Stephen has gone to the Lodge. it snows a little. we are going to have a storm.

Will dont get any better think we shall have the Dr tomorrow. Kit and Atwell were in this forenoon. John & Mae were down this afternoon brought a present for Ada & me from Mother. Ann Marden called this eve.

This has been a very cold day. Will had the Dr he says he has an abscess. Atwell and Sarah Justin and Nell have been in today. They have finished hawling our wood. Alvin has just been down.

The Aid society had cake & coffee at the vestry. Will and I went. Ada did not feel very well when we went but Nat & Maggie were here so we thought we would go. got home little past 9 oclock baby was born at half past 11 oclock

Ada is quite comfortable. she has a darling boy. Sarah has washed for me today and I have done most of the ironing. Nell & Kit have been in. Kit sat with Ada while I ironed. Ann Marden called to the door.

Lizzie & Zip have been up this afternoon. they helped me while they staid. Addie Cotton called in. the Dr has been here. he thinks Ada is better. Will is going to sit up tonight with her. Geo Marden called.

Sarah commenced to clean for me today. she done Ada's chamber and the stairway. Edith & Susie have been down. Kit has been in Charlotte & Jennie came down. they brought Ada some cream. Edith brought her some candy. Ada is better she sat up one hour.

Sarah cleaned the parlor today. did not get the carpet put down. Ada sat up 1½ hours today the Dr is not coming again. Charlotte was down this afternoon. Arthur brought down the milk. Kit has been in this evening.

Ada is up and dressed today for the first time. she says she feels nicely. Kit was in this morning. Alvin Arthur & Jennie, Abbot Zip & Lauris this afternoon. Ada has just gone to bed. Will has gone to meeting.

It has been dull and rainy all day. Sarah has cleaned the sink room today. Hattie Brown called this forenoon. Mr Amazeen and his wife called. Atwell and Ari have been in awhile this eve

It has not stormed any but has been real cold & windy all day. Ada has helped considerable today. we have been real busy. Atwell & Geo Marden have moved Elmer's body today I am very glad it is done.

Will and I went to Aid Soc last evening. Saw the school teacher. she is very pleasant Sarah has finished cleaning today. I am very glad. Ada has named the baby Leon Stephen. Fannie sent down word that she thought Leon was a pretty name so Ada thought she would call him that

Jennie Annie & Arthur were down last evening. Will & Alvin went to Hampton. Ada has moved her bed up stairs today. Geo Marden & Stephen have gone to the Lodge. David has ploughed our garden tonight

I moved my bed up stairs today and have got the bed room all ready for Mother when she comes. Stephen got a dispatch from Cad tonight saying Jim was sick. She wants me to go over tomorrow. we had a number of callers.

I came over here this noon found him quite sick but the Dr says he is out of danger. he has the spinal trouble. he and Caddy were very glad I could come over. Jim has good friends here.

Jim did not get much rest last night Caddy had to wake him up to take his medicine. the Dr says he is no worse. I came home tonight. am going back next week. Ada got along well.

Stephen, Ada, Baby, and myself have been to Exeter today. we picked out a grave stone for Elmer and one for Albert. Mother came home with us. Mr Blair came to Mae's to see us. Will has gone to the club.

Sarah has washed had a large wash 115 pieces. I hung them all out. Mother helped a good deal about the work and baby has been real good, dear little boy. Grammy hates to go away but Jim is sick so I must go.

Stephen and I went to Lodge last night with Leavitt. I came over here to Cad's this morning. Jim is not so well today, is out of his head. Jim is more quiet tonight there is a man come to set up with him he seems real nice.

Jim had a good night last night, is more comfortable today. Mr Stuart was down before breakfast. Mr Morrill is a nice watcher & Cad thinks she shall like him well. there has been a number of callers in today but they dont see Jim.

Jim is better today only pretty nervous. the Dr thinks he will get along nicely now. Mrs Batchelder came down this forenoon I was real glad to see her. she is very nice. Jim seems real bright tonight

The Dr came early this morning he says Jim is doing nicely. Cad & Sophy have gone to Amesbury Jim & I are keeping house. Cad felt obliged to go I told her she had better go before I go home. I am going this afternoon.

This has been a very warm day. the wind has blowed hard. our glass was 90 above at one oclock. Kit has been in this afternoon. Will has a bad cold but he has gone to the club tonight.

Another warm windy day. the wind sounds like rain. I hope it will rain. it is very dry Sarah has washed Ada hung out all the clothes. baby dont feel very well today but I guess nothing serious.

I though last night I should go to Portsmouth this morning but it rained so I waited til noon. it did not rain while I was gone but tonight it is real wet. I got part of the dishes & some flowers but no hat.

This has been a dull rainy day. Uncle David was buerried from the church. today is Memorial Sunday but it was so dull Stephen did not go to Hampton. I hope it will be pleasant tomorrow.

This has been a lovely day for memorial. Stephen & I went to Hampton this morning went to the Hall first. the flowers were beautiful. went to Abbott's to dinner. got home before dark.

Sarah has washed for us today about the middle of the forenoon Jennie came down and said she and Alvin were going to Portsmouth I could go with them. I did & got me a hat & pair of boots and got the mugs for the vestry. spent all the money but 2 cents

We have done the ironing today it is very rainy. Stephen heard this morning that Ida has a girl baby. I guess they will be well pleased all round. we commenced today to give baby milk from Alvin's.
Thursday 2
Baby has seemed better today I guess the milk will be good for him as the cow does not have any malt. we are having a real dull time. it has rained considerable.

I am glad I did not go away today. baby has not seemed very well he is troubled a great deal with wind. I hope he will be better as he grows older. Mrs Amazeen & Eliza called this afternoon Sarah Hattie Jennie & Arthur called.

Stephen Will & I have been to meeting today. Baby dont feel very well. I dont think it is anything serious. John Mallon & Mr Walker have been down. they did not stop long. this is dear little Albert's birthday he would have been two years old if he had lived

We have finished the ironing it was very warm this forenoon I am going down to Hampton this afternoon with Addie. the men will go this eve. the Lodge are to have a supper. baby is nicely today.

We got home from the Lodge about ½ past 12 oclock last night. there were 9 initiated Aunt Maggie & Carrie Brown called this afternoon to see baby. I am going to have the Aid Society tomorrow night.

Mrs Dearborn gave me some flowers last night and today I have been over to Cad's and I bought enough more to make nice bouquets for the childrens graves. I dont think Jim has gained much.

Will & I have been to church Stephen did not feel able to go his leg troubled him all night since supper Will Ada Baby and I have called to see Ida and up to Bells'. Ida's baby is real small and real good.

Mother and I have been over to see Jim. did not find him so well as we expected to. he had an ill turn yesterday. I am afraid it will be a long time before he gets well. Mr Greeley put up the grave stones this forenoon.

Elmer would be 26 years old today if he was alive. the time has seemed long since he died. Will & Ada went up yesterday morning and put the flowers on his & Albert's graves. Mother Stephen Baby & I went to ride this afternoon

We have ironed today. it has been very hot. Stephen got a postal from Frank Carroll tonight saying they were burnt out Monday evening the fourth. we are all anxious to hear the particulars.

I got a postal tonight from Mrs Dearborn asking me to go to Hampton. they were going to meet and see about instituting a releaf corps. also to choose Officers I guess I will go down with Stephen.

We got home from Hampton last night at 11 oclock. they will institute the Corps next Friday evening. Mrs Amazeen brought Ada's dresses home this afternoon. I guess she will like them. Will & Ada have gone to Hampton this evening.

It was quite dull this morning Will and I went to meeting. after supper Will and Ada went to the grave yard and carried two bouquets for the graves. Mrs Amazeen gave me the flowers. When they came back Stephen Will Ada Baby & I went to ride
Monday 11
This has been a very showery day. Ada washed but did not put her clothes out doors. she hung the colored ones in the shop & put the white ones to soak. I thought I should get a letter from Nessie tonight but I did not.

Ada put the clothes out and got them dry and we done the ironing all of it. we got Mr Blair's picture tonight. it is a good one. Kit was up this forenoon she said she would give us some peas. Will went down tonight and picked them.

This has been a fine hay day. Will cut a part of ours. Ada turned it twice. Will has cut more tonight. I dont know how he is going to get it tended. Stephen has gone to Lodge tonight. I bought a table cloth & skirt of a pedler today
Thursday 14
Charlotte came down after dinner and we made and froze the ice cream for this afternoon and evening. 2 freezers full. had the aid society this afternoon & evening I went this afternoon Will & Ada have gone this evening.

Ada said there was a good number to Aid Society last eve. and all the ice cream was sold. tonight the soldiers wifes are to have a releaf corps instituted and the Post is invited. Stephen and I are going down.

We did not get home from Hampton last night till 20 minuets past 1 oclock and I have felt most sick today I had to lie down my head ached so bad. we had a real nice time at Hampton last night

Ada and I have been to church today. Mother Stephen and Will took care of baby. he was real good. since supper Mother Will Ada Baby & I have been to ride to Hampton Beach. it rained some before we got home.

Ada put her clothes out this morning. a part of the colored ones she put in the shop were dry and we ironed them this forenooon. at noon Ada Baby and I went to Portsmouth to have Baby's picture taken.

We ironed today. we thought we should get the proof of Baby's picture tonight but we did not. I guess it will come tomorrow we are anxious to see if it is good Stephen has gone to Lodge. I went last night with Geo and Addie

We are having very changable weather this week. real dog days weather. sunshine and rain we got the proofs of the babie's picture tonight but dont feel satisfied with them. guess we shall go again to have more.

Lizzie and Charlotte have been down spending the day. True came to supper and spent the eve. they did not go to prayer meeting. it looked like rain. Oliver Albert Brown's wife called. Sarah was in.

This morning it looked dull but towards noon it seemed more like being pleasant so Ada Baby & I went to Portsmouth to get to get Baby's picture taken. we got a good one but such a rainy afternoon as it was. it rained

Will and I have been to meeting had an extra meeting this afternoon at ¼ past 2 oclock. Mr Pike preached it has been showery all day. Will and Ada wanted to go up to Charlotte's tonight but it rains so hard they cant go.

Ada washed. got the clothes all dry. she had a large wash. this afternoon she went up to Charlotte's a little while. this evening Stephen and I have called up to Aunt Sallie's & Aunt Lydia's and up to Mrs Garland's in Rye.

We have been cooking some this afternoon Mother and I went to the Aid Society at the vestry. I went up for Stephen and Will when it was time and Mother came home with them I staid this eve Will went back.
Friday 29
Today is Mother's birth day. She is 78 years old. I had a surprise party for her. I invited Charlotte Abby & Maggie, Mrs Garland at the Sea Mrs Garland at Rye, Mrs Reuben Brown Mrs Lydia Fogg Mrs Nothil Marston. they had a nice time. all came but Maggie and Mrs Garland at the sea

Will and I have been to church when we got home we found John Mallon Frank Carroll & Mr Stokell here. they stayed to supper. Will Ada and Leon have been to Hampton. Albert Locke and his wife and Miss Hobbs called.

Ada washed had a very large wash. got the clothes dry and taken in and then Mother Ada Leon and myself went up to Aunt Sally Marstons and spent the afternoon had a nice time. Will and Ada have gone to ride this evening.

We have done part of the ironing. Mother and I were going to Lizzies to spend the day but it commenced to rain so we could not go. it cleared off at noon so we just called to bid her good bye. I am going to the lodge.

Finished ironing today. Edith Susie and May Perkins have been up and spent the day. They and Ada and baby went to the beach this afternoon. tonight I am going to the Relief Corps and shall carry them home.

I have been over to Cad's today with Mother. she will stay there awhile then go over with Nessie. we shall miss her very much. Baby will miss her. she thinks a great deal of him and he does of her. Will dont feel very well.

This has been a busy day for us. it has been a very showery afternoon. May Perkins came up tonight on the train. she rode down with the men. Will Ada and she have gone to ride this eve. it is a beautiful evening to ride.

Made more pies today. have 29 tonight. dressed three chickens this evening. Stephen reckoned up the number of pounds they all weighed. 24¼ ducks & chickens. I should think that was enough for one day

Finished making pies today. have made 40 in all and a large chicken pie. also two loves of cake. we are about ready now for Thanksgiving. Stephen has gone to the Lodge. it is dull, has been raining

Thanksgiving day. Stephen and I went up to the grave yard. he fixed Elmer's grave a little. I carried wreaths for both graves. we have been alone all day. Will and Ada went to the depot & Ida's tonight
Friday 25
I wanted to go to Exeter today but it is rainy and bad traveling. was not fit to go. I am afraid it will snow before long. then I cant go. the weather is very mild for the last of November.
Saturday 26
Another dull day it dont rain much but it is very damp and foggy. Alvin and Jennie have been down this evening.Will would have gone up to Addie Marston's to a sing if they had not been here.

Will and I have been to meeting. we did not stop to Sabbath school for Will and Ada went to the funeral and it was at one oclock. Ada said there were a great many there. Grace had a great many friends.
Monday 28
Burgalers broke into Sam Dow's and Mr Rollin's stores some time last night. they did not get any thing in Sam's but they blowed open Rollin's safe and set fire to the store and burned it down.
Tuesday 29
Ada washed yesterday and I hung the clothes out but it begun to rain and towards night she took them in & put them in a tub. today she put them out. got them all dry and part ironed. they have all but

It was very cold this morning only 5 above zero. Belle Dearborn and her sister Annie Taylor called this forenoon to see if I was going to corps meeting tonight Charlotte & Emma called.
Friday 2
We got home from Hampton last night at half past 11 oclock. Stephen's leg troubled him so bad he did not go to bed at all. he went to work says it is better tonight. it looks very much like snow.

Ada has not been very well today so I have done the work and am very tired. True has been putting in the windows today they look nice he has got the hen house all done. Stephen & I are going to Hampton. it is corps inspection.
Sunday 4
We did not get home till 20 minuets past 12 oclock last night. Will and I have been to church. I have a bad cold cant speak aloud. George Addie & Fred Cotton spent the evening with us.
Monday 5
Ada washed but it was so rainy we put the clothes up stairs. True has been down and finished the windows. Will has gone to the vestry this evening. it is real pleasant out now.

The clothes are part of them dry enough to iron but as we had some cooking to do we thought we would not try to do any ironing. Stephen & I are going to the Lodge this evening with Leavitt Dalton.
Wednesday 7
We got home last night at ½ past 11 oclock. Jennie & Emma have been down and spent the day. Alvin and Arthur came to tea and all staid till half past 8 oclock this evening.
Thursday 8
We have ironed today I dont like to be so late in the week with my ironing but we couldn't seem to help it this week Addie Cotton called for me to go to Aid Society at Eliza Ann's we had a good time

Stephen and I have been to Exeter today. went to Aunt Jane's and staid to dinner, then went to Mae's and got the table that Cad gave me. we got home at half past six oclock. it looks dull.
Saturday 10
We have cooked and mended and got all ready for Saturday night. it is raining this evening. Will and Ada have gone over to Justins. Charley called this morning he says his Mother is failing fast.
Sunday 11
It is so rainy today we did not any of us go to meeting. Abbie died this afternoon about three oclock, just six weeks from the time she fell down stairs. I havn't been up it is so rainy & I have such a cold

Ada washed this forenoon. this afternoon she and Will have gone to Portsmouth. Will carried me up to see Abbie before they went. she looks very natural. the funeral is to be tomorrow. I guess it will be fair.

Abbie was buerried this afternoon. Stephen Will and I went to the funeral. Ada had to stay at home to see to Leon Abbie looked very nice and natural. there were a good many there Kit has been over this evening.
Wednesday 14
It dont seem possible that Abbie is dead I cant seem to make it seem real but I think it is her gain to go. she never would have been right if she had lived. Stephen & Will have gone to the Lodge.

This has been a lovely day. Kit sent over this noon to see if Ada didn't want to go to ride with her so she and Leon went. we had a good deal to do but I thought she had better go when she had a chance.

Stephen is home today he dont feel very well. he was sick all night. I tell him he is out too much nights to the Lodges. he aint as smart as he used to be and cant be out so much nights.
Saturday 17
I have been to Portsmouth today. Such a lot of nice presents for any one to buy that has plenty of money. I did not get much only for Leon. I got a little for all. it has been a lovely day

This morning when we got up the ground was white with snow and it was still snowing. it was so stormy we have none of us been to meeting. this evening Will and Ada have gone over to see Kit. I am sorry to see snow.

It has been a nice day. Ada washed put the white clothes up stairs the colored ones out doors. they got all nice and dry. the ones up stairs are most dry tonight. Will has gone to the vestry Ada over to Kit's
Tuesday 20
Ada has gone to Portsmouth this forenoon is coming home at 11 oclock. I got Leon a hood when I went it did not fit him so she is going to change it. Ada got a pretty plush hood for Leon I am going to the Lodge tonight

Leavitt and I went to the Lodge last night. Stephen did not feel like going they have had to work hard in the shop for two days showing. it is snowing hard today. tonight it is clearing off Stephen & Will have gone to the Lodge.
Thursday 22
Will took his second degree in the Lodge last night. it was pleasant this forenoon. at noon we had quite a snow squall. this evening it is real pleasant. the Aid Society meets at Jennie Marstons. we are not going it is such snowy traveling
Friday 23
It has been a pleasant day but cold. I guess it was well we did not go to Aid Society last night for Ed, Steve, Edith and Susie Perkins were up and spent the evening. Susie brought Leon a picture book for Christmas.

Today we have done our mending and cooked for Christmas. Ella had a christmas tree this afternoon. Leon had a present on it a very pretty card from Ella. Sarah and Ari have gone to Hampton Falls to spend Christmas.

Another dull Sunday the last in the year. Christmas day. we all got presents some of them very nice and useful. Will & I have been to meeting. this evening Will Ada & Ella have gone to North Hill to a concert.

It has snowed a little all day but it has been too cold to have the snow accumalate any. Ada washed we put the clothes up stairs. tonight we got a box from Cad Sherman with a present for us all. we were much surprised

Most of the clothes got dry. we ironed part of them, couldn't get them all done we had to cook. I made pies Ada made a cake to carry to the vestry tomorrow night. it is very rainy tonight S & W did not go to Lodge

We finished ironing today. it rained so much it spoiled the sleighing. it is pleasant and cold today. Stephen Will and Ada have gone to the Literary entertainment. I hope Ada wont get any more cold

This is the last night of the year. how little we any of us know what changes another year will bring. this past year has made great changes. some that were here a year ago tonight have gone never to return and some of us that are here tonight may have passed away before one year from tonight. none of us can tell who will go next. George More told us today that Arthur Breed tried to kill himself in Newburyport Depot yesterday by cutting the artery in his arm. I think he must be insane. dont know any of the particulars.
Jan 21st Mrs Esther Jones in Rye died this morning, is to be buerried Sunday. Mr Amazeen will tend the funeral.
Jan 27th Mrs Emma Currier (Jenness) in Rye died the 24th was buerried today. Mr Amazeen tended the funeral from the Advent Church

Jan 28th The soap man came today and took my ashes and paid me in hard soap. I had 13½ bars. I write it down so to see how long it will last me.
Jan 29th Mr Carter and Mrs Fannie Saulter were married today. they have gone on a wedding tour to be gone a few weeks. Charley Smith's wife has a little boy. I did not hear when it was born (heard it was the 24th)
Feb 17th George Jenness in Rye died Tuesday the 15th buerried today. Mr Amazeen will attend the funeral.

Mr Thomas Moore was killed on the railroad tonight he was in Portsmouth. took the wrong train & went to Kittery and in getting off the train he stepped in front of another train and was killed. it is very sad. he was an old man.
July 30th There was a colored boy killed on the track between Drake's bridge and Greenland by the first train this morning. he belonged in Portsmouth.
Aug 14th Emma Drake died Friday was buerried today from the vestry at the Centre. Mr Amazeen tended the funeral. Mr Haines is away on his vacation.
