Elizabeth Ann Powers (maiden name: Bailey) was born around 1833 in Hartford, New York, to Ephraim and Amanda Bailey. Her father earned a living as a Baptist minister, and by 1850, the family was living in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. She married Charles H. Powers on October 26, 1851, and they had at least two children: Frank, born around 1855; and Fred, born around 1859. Their son Frank died in 1857. Her husband worked as a merchant, and by 1860, they owned $700 of real estate and $2,300 of personal property. A decade later, their wealth had grown to $8,000 of real estate and $19,000 of personal property. Her husband died on October 16, 1885, and she married Joseph W. Fassett on August 26, 1888. She died sometime afterward.
