I received a letter from home last evening. it come in 4 days / pretty quick isnt it. we are about 2 miles from Cincinnati I have been all over that great city it is a very large city indeed. I presume it is most as large as Boston. I never was in Boston therefore I cannot tell. we have got a splendid encampment and expect to stay here awhile. we were paid off two or three days ago. we can buy most any thing we wish for. the women come in with baskets full of fruit of all kinds. Bread milk &c. &c. Fruit is very cheap in Cincinnati. Peaches .65 cts a quart. Watermellons &c are very cheap 5 & 10 cts apiece. I presume you have any quantity of such stuff at home. we have all the apples and very cheap. I think I shall come up to Westford and get a wife and come out to Cincinnati and live. I like the place very much

Well I hardly know what to fill this sheet with. there is no news of any importance. I shall be glad when the glad news comes "that this cruel war is ended" you know that song dont you? it is very pretty. how is it about drafting. have they drafted in Westford yet? I suppose you are waiting excuse blots for your chance to be drafted. do you intend to come if you are drafted? I should Allen expects to be drafted. I think he will come. he is going in Clocks and Sherwards Apothecary Store. he will get a pretty good chance. he is going to take Austin Frenches place. Billie I must close the mail will go out soon. I will send you my picture if you dont like it send it back again.
