My Respected Parents
You will see that by my heading that the Reg is now on the Peninsula. We left Suffolk on Friday noon and arrived at Yorktown Saturday morning remained until Monday morning when we marched to Williamsburg. Our Brigade marched to the front and we are now doing garrison duty on the various forts in the vicinity. These are 8 in number. Some of them quite large we are separated one company in each fort, 2 in fort Magruder. it is a wild looking country around here The Army is moving as rapidly as possible for ten days it is rained which will put them back some but if on pleasant weather they move as rapidly as possible there is no doubt but what they can go in to Richmond and spend the 4th there. We are waiting anxiously for our orders to return to Yorktown to take the transport for home. We are all well but waiting anxiously to see our friends. With love to all I remain your Affectionate Son
Albert.
