Why we are not relieved and on our way home, that is the question the longer the government keep us here the worse it is for them. All are anxious to get home. And it is a shame to keep us here It looks impossible for us to reach home before the 4th I shall be sorry if we have to stop in R.I. that day. I suppose the 22nd Conn Reg are at home by this time. To morrow we are to be mustered for pay. We heard from camp in Yorktown to day that Capt Ayer was sick with Typhoid fever, and very low. do not know the truth of it. With regards to all and the Love of your Soldier I close
Kisses to both.
I hear that the mails do not leave Yorktown Fortress Munroe, possibly this you may get
